Holi Celebration in India
Holi is a festival of vibrant colors that well defines the spring-season in which its celebrated. It is quite popular for adulterated fun and vociferousness throughout the world. This boisterous, fun filled Hindu festival also glorifies the joy of spring in the form of good fertility of the land as well as harvest. In a country where people belonging to different faith, caste and race live together, there the significance of this festival is even more. However, the celebration finds its origin from the Hindu mythology. The two day festival consisting of burning Holika that is arranging for a massive bonfire and the "love play" of Radha and Krishna. The first custom is taken from the famous Prahlad event where this great disciple of Lord Vishnu was thrown in fire as punishment for not worshiping King Hiranyakashipu along with Holika (king's sister) who had special wish of staying unharmed when walking alone through it. Prahlad's deep faith and devotion in Lord Vishnu ultimately saved his life.
